German Chocolate Bars

These German chocolate bars with caramel are just like German chocolate cake, but you can eat them with your hands!

Instructions Checklist
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Melt caramels with 1/3 cup condensed milk in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave; stir every 30 seconds. Set aside.

  • Combine cake mix, melted butter, and 1/2 cup condensed milk in a large bowl; stir well. Spread 1/2 of the cake mix mixture in the prepared pan.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and cover with caramel mixture, chocolate chips, and nuts. Spread remaining cake mix mixture on top. Bake for 10 more minutes.
